STUDENT SUCCESS COACHING

Middle School,
High School, and College

Students at every stage of school can struggle to translate good intentions into action. Student Success Coaching helps students develop practical executive function skills for planning, prioritizing, organizing, managing time, initiating and completing tasks, preparing for tests and projects, and balancing competing demands. Coaching is individualized to the student's developmental stage, strengths, challenges, and goals, with an emphasis on building confidence, independence, and systems that students can use beyond the current school year.

Middle school students are often learning how to manage increased academic expectations and take greater responsibility for their work. Coaching may focus on homework routines, organization, time management, study habits, task initiation, and learning how to use systems and supports effectively.

High school students are navigating greater academic complexity and competing demands while preparing for increasing independence. Coaching may focus on managing long-term assignments and deadlines, studying effectively, balancing school and activities, overcoming procrastination, and developing the self-management skills needed for greater independence.

College students are responsible for managing much more of their academic and daily lives independently. Coaching may focus on creating structure, managing competing priorities, staying on top of coursework, preparing for exams, starting and completing large or ambiguous projects, and balancing academics with work, activities, and other responsibilities.
